I arrived in Denver around 5:30p after a long flight and then didn’t make it to my hotel until 7:30p. By the time I got in to my room, I was starving!
On my shuttle to from the airport, I met two very nice people who had flown in for the same conference that I had. We decided to make friends and break bread together. When we checked in, we asked the front desk associate to suggest a few places. Appaloosa Grill was one she suggested that we felt would appeal to multiple pallets. It was within walking distance from our hotel too. Perfect!
I view this place as a “find” in the mall area, I’m happy I found it and try to make a couple of stops every year when I’m in town.
The latest time I stopped in I had their sausage plate, spicy, fatty and delicious; a very good reccomendation by the happy-go-lucky chucklehead behind the bar. Had a couple of DPAs (always a solid go to when on tap), did a little people watching, eavesdropped a bit, then got back to busines.
I like the space, the old building, the set up. Stopped by here late one evening and caught a little bluegrass, you just can’t go wrong

This restaurant was absolutely amazing! Possibly the best wait
service I’ve every had with attention to detail and personable staff. Great variety of food… From Thai Curry to Breakfast Burritos. I had a breakfast sandwich and Tres Leches for dessert–both fantastic. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Established in 2001, the employee owned Appaloosa Grill is a refreshingly unique choice among eateries that line the 16th St. Mall. The grill’s diverse menu features 100% natural meats as well as a variety of vegetarian choices. The Grill also boasts TWO happy hours a day, a private party room for groups up to 75, a patio on the 16th Street Mall, live entertainment nightly and a kitchen that serves til 1:30am. You get all that?
This is the first and only place I went to here… the bar staff was very friendly even giving us the local scoop on things to do and other places to go. The food was delish and very fresh. One day we had truffel fries topped with parmesan and garlic with their homemade ketchup and when you are drinking this goes down like candy. I actually had the falafel platter which was pretty good, you can tell everything was made in house, minus the pita bread. At night they always have some sort of local band come rolling through and the crowd will start to pick up, so that was also cool… Another cool thing, they keep serving food until 130am so if you get the munchies, you can order yourself something… Me likey!
